ArcAngel

Flexible Copper-Clad Steel (CCS) Conductor for Demanding Utility Applications

Premium substation grounding

ArcAngel is engineered for easier installation, high fault performance, and proactive maintenance in complex grounding layouts.

ArcAngel is Copperweld’s high-strand-count CCS conductor, engineered to bend easily during installation while combining the electrical performance and corrosion resistance of copper with the strength of steel. With an optional ground fault indicator strand that supports faster inspection and maintenance visibility, ArcAngel helps utilities keep critical grounding systems performing for decades. Flexible and durable, ArcAngel helps utilities strengthen critical infrastructure from the ground up.

Features and Benefits:

Increased Flexibility – High strand count improves ease of installation without sacrificing strength, simplifying routing through congested substation layouts.
Improved Electrical Performance – Ground fault performance equivalent to copper, with greater mechanical durability for demanding utility grounding applications.
Ground Fault Indicator Strand – Optional fault-identification strand changes color when a fault occurs, helping crews quickly identify damage and simplify maintenance.
Superior Strength – With the strength of steel, CCS resists stretching, breakage, and deformation under mechanical and thermal stress.
Reduced Theft Incentive – With a rugged steel core and lower scrap value than solid copper, CCS helps reduce theft incentives in remote or unmonitored locations.
Corrosion Resistance – ArcAngel is engineered to deliver long-term performance in harsh environments, supporting extended service life in buried and exposed grounding applications.

Finish Options

Bare

Our original uncoated CCS finish

Bare Copperweld® Copper-Clad Steel (CCS) combines the mechanical strength of steel with the conductivity and corrosion resistance of copper. Continuous copper cladding is metallurgically bonded to a steel core, creating a grounding conductor built for long service life in demanding environments.

Features and Benefits:

  • Copper-Clad Steel construction delivers high strength with reliable grounding performance
  • Copper cladding resists corrosion in buried and exposed applications
  • Proven long-term durability in a wide range of soil conditions
  • Suitable for substation, transmission, distribution, and renewable grounding systems

Indicator

Visual grounding aid to support inspection, maintenance, and field awareness

ArcAngel’s optional indicator strand finish provides a clear visual reference within grounding systems, helping crews quickly identify grounding conductors during installation, inspection, and maintenance activities.

Features and Benefits:

  • High-visibility indicator strand integrated into the stranded grounding conductor
  • Tin-coated finish helps the conductor visually blend with galvanized fencing and structures
  • Visual cues help signal to thieves that the conductor is not solid copper
  • Indicator strand supports faster identification during inspection and maintenance activities
