Not all conductors are created equal
The reliability of a conductor depends on its core strength. Copperweld® Brand CCS is designed to be the best at handling the worst of punishment, combining the strength of steel with the conductivity and corrosion resistance of copper. These properties are achieved by permanently welding a copper covering to the conductor core, making Copperweld® wire ideal for real-world application threats like hammer blows, axe strikes, door pinches, and the punishing effects of mother nature.
Perfectly ruggedized
Corrosion-resistant copper forms the exterior of each Copperweld® brand wire, assuring long life, even in demanding environments. Using a proprietary high-heat, high-pressure process, we permanently join high-strength steel or aluminum with the highest-quality copper (OFC). The copper layer is permanently bonded to the core, so no moisture or oxygen is available for electrolysis. A twist test can be used to check the quality of a metallurgical bond.

How do you beat a copper thief? Take away his financial incentive; install a conductor that is less likely to be taken.
Copper recyclers pay top dollar for solid copper scrap because it can be easily melted and sold near the market price of copper. Copperweld’s permanently bonded copper covering needs to undergo a specific separation process, making our conductors unattractive to recyclers and unprofitable for copper thieves.
