In 2018 we renamed our traditional CCS products—used to 'harden the power grid' since 1915—as Century.

Copperweld was founded in 1915 with the development of a new way to manufacture Copper-Clad Steel (CCS). The unused middle of a traditional copper conductor is a great place to add strength, improve survivability, and increase service life for grounding and bonding applications. Through continued excellence in manufacturing through the years, our copper core and steel are truly metallurgically bonded, which removes the possibility of electrolysis.

Several top-tier utilities have recently examined CCS in their buried substation ground grids and discovered that Copperweld Century products still meet the ASTM B910 construction specifications of new CCS, even after decades in service.
