ArcAngel is better for the job than solid-copper conductors in five distinct ways: mechanically, thermally, electrically, financially, and risk of theft.
ArcAngel was designed to replace common sizes of copper used in grounding applications with a more flexible version of traditional CCS. The resulting high-strand-count conductor sizes are named for the current they can carry, per IEEE Standard 80-2013 Table 6. For example, ArcAngel 44 can carry 44,000 Amps for 500 ms.
As added advantage of the higher strand count, ArcAngel provides greater mechanical strength. 2/0-sized ArcAngel has higher breakload than a common 4/0 copper conductor, which provides substation design engineers new options to explore in software modeling tools, like CDEGS v18, for optimizing the cost of a substation ground grid.
